New File Here App Reviews

You can’t right click inside a folder, or even on a folder, and have the “New File Here” menu like it shows in the image. You have to click on a file first, which negates the whole point of the app. Because this didn’t work I broke out the old Goggle machine and found XtraFinder: its free, has a lot more functionality, and provides the wanted right click “New File Here” functionality.

To get the context menu to show up in all folders: 1. Go in to the app preferences. 2. Click on the “Finder” tab. 3. Add a path to the root of your filesystem, that should be “/“ 4. Now the context menu will show up everywhere. Maybe not for other mounted volumes, though, which is a pain. Ideally, the context menu would show up in all folders by default. Dunno why the app creator chose not to do that.
